The following are answers to Members' questions.

  • What are the dates for negotiations?
    • Negotiations are set to begin on January 12, 2026.
    • The Union and company failed to agree on a (2) year extension in October.
  • Is the company bringing in operators from other sites?
    • The Union sent the company a Request for Information (RFI) about this on December 4. The company has stated that no operators are being transferred to the Bayport site. Further, the company says nobody is being transferred into the bargaining unit.
    • The company has the right to hire, however, if outside operators are being used for work in the Union's jurisdiction, they must follow the collective bargaining agreement pertaining to wages, etc.
  • Can non-members join so they can vote and then get out of the Union?
    • We welcome everyone to join the Union. When a new member signs an application for membership they cannot withdraw for (1) year.
  • Does the Union have a strike fund?
    • Yes. The strike fund is currently $250 per week.
  • Will I lose my insurance if we go on strike?
    • During a strike there is not a collective bargaining agreement between the Union and the company. The company would no longer pay their share of the premium. Employees would be eligible for COBRA Insurance. This would mean the employee would pay the entire premium.
